About the Program

• What is the Passion in You program?

  The Passion in You program gives Young Living brand partners and employees the opportunity to lead a fundraiser for a cause they care about, and the Young Living Foundation will match the funds raised dollar for dollar up to $10,000 USD.

• What does “matching” mean?

  The Young Living Foundation will match what Project Leaders fundraise by donating the same amount to the selected organization, up to $10,000 USD. If a Passion in You project requires $1,000 USD in total funding, Project Leaders will fundraise $500 USD and the Young Living Foundation will match that dollar for dollar with another $500 USD.

• How do I decide what to fundraise for?

  First, find an organization in a community you care about that aligns with the Foundation’s mission and three focus areas (nurture potential, rescue the harmed, and protect the earth). Then, reach out to your chosen organization and inquire about their current funding needs. Finally, work together to decide on a specific Passion Project. Learn more about organization and project criteria below.

• How are fundraising donations collected and processed?

  • All donations to Passion in You fundraisers are processed in U.S. dollars (USD) through the Young Living Foundation website. We currently do not process donations in other currencies, though we can accept payments via PayPal. While we do not charge currency conversion fees, we advise donors to contact their card providers to determine if they will be subject to conversion fees through their bank or card company. 
  • When a donor submits a donation through a Passion in You fundraiser page, they will receive a confirmation email from the Young Living Foundation. This receipt should be kept for their records as confirmation of their donation. Because the Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States, donations are tax deductible for U.S. citizens. Donors outside of the U.S. are encouraged to consult with a tax professional to discuss if (or how) tax deductibility will apply to their donation.

• Can I use the Passion in You funding to donate Young Living products to the charitable organization?

  No, Passion in You funding cannot be used to purchase Young Living products for the organization you are partnering with. If you would like to request a donation of product for the organization, you can email info@younglivingfoundation.org.

• Can I use a different fundraising platform to raise funds for my Passion in You project?

  No, Passion in You fundraisers must go through the Passion in You fundraising platform in order to be eligible to receive the funds.

Application Process

• Who is eligible to apply?

  Young Living brand partners in good standing and Young Living employees of at least six months are invited to apply. 

• What is a Passion in You Project Leader, and what is their role?

  Once an application is approved, you become a Passion in You Project Leader. As the Project Leader, you will be responsible for collaborating with the selected charitable organization, identifying a project to fundraise for, creating and promoting a fundraiser, and sharing personal stories and photos from the project. 

• What is a Passion in You Project Partner, and what is their role?

  For projects led by Young Living brand partners that require over $10,000 USD of total funding the Project Leader will need to find a Platinum or above Project Partner to support throughout the journey. The role of the Project Partner is to help promote the fundraiser and build awareness around the cause. There is no financial obligation for Project Partners and no limitation on how many projects a Platinum and above can support. Being a Project Partner does not exclude one from being a Project Leader and hosting their own fundraiser.

• What is needed before filling out an application?

  Young Living brand partners or employees will need the following information for their selected nonprofit: a point of contact at the organization, their title and phone number, the organization’s address and website, social media handles, and official registration documentation. For brand partners wanting more than $5,000 USD matched by the Young Living Foundation, you will also need to provide the name and ID number for a Project Partner that is Platinum level or above.

• What happens after I submit my application?

  Once an application is submitted, it will be reviewed and evaluated by the Passion in You evaluation team, and you will be notified whether or not it is approved. If it is approved, you, the Project Leader, will be provided with a fundraising toolkit that includes everything you need to host a successful fundraiser!

• When will I find out if my application has been approved?

  Applications are due each month by the 5th, and you, the Project Leader applicant, will be notified of approval or denial by the 15th of the month. Applications received after the 5th of the month will be notified the following month by the 15th.

• How often can I be approved to be a Project Leader for the Passion in You program?

  Young Living brand partners and employees can be Project Leaders once every two years.

• If my application is denied, can I apply again?

  Yes, you can apply again. All applications must meet our program criteria in order for them to be considered, and even then, some applications may still be denied. The Young Living Foundation receives an overwhelming number of applications each month and wish there was an infinite number of resources to fund all the projects our members are passionate about.

Charitable Organization and Project Criteria

• What criteria must a charitable organization meet to qualify?

  When selecting a charitable organization to support, ensure the following criteria are followed:  

  • Organization must include programming that is aligned with the Young Living Foundation’s mission and three focus areas: Nurture Potential, Rescue the Harmed, Protect the Earth
  • Organization must be a registered nonprofit or NGO. Please note that official documentation of charitable status must be provided during the application process
  • Organization must have a web presence
  • Organization must be established for at least one year
  • Organization can only receive funding from the Passion in You matching program once every two years
  • Organizations that have a religious affiliation may qualify; however, Passion in You projects cannot include funding for inherently religious activities such as religious worship, instruction, or proselytizing
  • Organizations must not have a political affiliation

• How do I find a charitable organization to support?

  Here are some tips to find a charitable organization to support:

  • Do a web search to see if there are any local organizations that support your passion that are also aligned with the Young Living Foundation’s mission and three focus areas.
  • Use Charity Navigator or Guidestar to check the reputation of charitable organizations in your area. These websites also have a directory of reputable international and US-based charitable organizations.
  • If you are US-based, do a simple web search for nonprofit registration in the state you live.

• What criteria must a project meet to qualify?

  As a potential Passion Project Leader, you will want to contact your chosen organization to inquire about their current funding needs. You will then decide together on a specific Passion Project that aligns with these needs and the following criteria:

  • Must align with the Young Living Foundation's mission and three focus pillars 
  • Must be an immediate, current year need of the organization
  • Must be implemented within three months of receipt of funds

• What kinds of projects are not eligible for the Passion in You Program?

  • Projects that include overhead or administrative costs/salaries
  • Projects for organizations that are politically affiliated
  • Projects for inherently religious activities such as religious worship, instruction, or proselytizing
  • Projects connected to government agencies/entities
  • Projects that include research studies
  • Projects supporting a fundraising event
  • Projects that are solely for advertising or promotion
  • Parties, celebrations, parades, festivals, or raffles
  • Projects that include individuals, teams, or groups seeking assistance for travel
  • The Young Living Foundation reserves the sole and absolute discretion to determine recipients of its charitable contributions. The Young Living Foundation may exclude or include projects/organizations and/or provide contributions as the Young Living Foundation determines appropriate.

• How often can charitable organizations be selected by Project Leaders for the Passion in You program?

  Organizations can only receive Passion in You funding once every two years from any Project Leader.
