The Businesses You Helped Fund Are Beginning to Launch

The Businesses You Helped Fund Are Beginning to Launch

A few months ago, we launched a new initiative in Uganda through our partnership with the Women's Entrepreneurship Center at Mabira.

The goal is simple but powerful: equip women with the training, mentorship, and resources needed to start and grow small businesses that can support themselves, their families, and their communities.

Through entrepreneurship training, financial literacy education, business coaching, and startup support, women are gaining the skills and confidence needed to build sustainable livelihoods and create lasting economic independence.

Today, we're excited to share an important milestone.

What started as training and mentorship is now becoming reality.

Women who once entered the program with business ideas are now presenting business plans, purchasing equipment, and preparing to launch businesses of their own.

This month marked a major step forward as the first cohort of participants began transitioning from learning to business ownership.

Business ideas included:

  • Retail shops
  • Poultry farming
  • Piggery operations
  • Laundry services
  • Peanut butter production
  • Pineapple and plantain farming

Each business reflects a practical opportunity for women to generate income while meeting local community needs.

Turning Plans Into Reality

Once business plans were approved, participants began purchasing the equipment, supplies, and startup materials needed to launch their ventures.

Women actively participated in identifying suppliers, comparing prices, selecting equipment, and learning how to manage startup budgets. Along the way, they received additional coaching on equipment operation, supplier engagement, budgeting, and business planning.

These experiences are helping participants build more than businesses: they're building confidence, decision-making skills, and long-term economic independence.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating

This reporting period marked several important achievements:

  • The first Business Plan Presentation Program was successfully launched.
  • The first cohort of startup beneficiaries was approved.
  • Startup equipment and business inputs were successfully purchased.
  • Participants strengthened their business planning and entrepreneurship skills.
  • Women gained practical experience in procurement, budgeting, and business management.

While these milestones may seem simple, they represent something significant: women taking the next step toward creating sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families.

Thank You

To everyone who supported our recent fundraiser and those who continues to support the Young Living Foundation, thank you.

Because of your generosity, women are gaining access to training, mentorship, startup resources, and opportunities that can create lasting change for generations to come.

We're excited to continue sharing updates as these businesses launch, grow, and begin creating new opportunities for families and communities throughout Uganda.

Together, we are helping transform potential into possibility, one business at a time.
