Rooted in Culture, Reaching for the Future: A Month at Young Living Academy
Rooted in Culture, Reaching for the Future: A Month at Young Living Academy
The best education does two things at once-root a child in who they are, while opening doors to who they can become. This month at Young Living Academy, we saw both happen, and a few of you were there to see it in person.
Rooted in Who They Are
Students at the Academy celebrated the Guayaquil Independence holiday this month, taking pride in the city they call home. They also marked the National Day of the Afro-Ecuadorian People, honoring the culture, history, and contributions of the Afro-Ecuadorian community.
Moments like these matter. A child who knows their roots walks into every classroom, and every future, with more confidence.
Learning by Doing
It was a busy month in the classroom as well, with students completing their second round of midterm evaluations. Those exams are the quiet, steady work behind every graduation day.
Learning also got a little messier and a lot more fun. Our third-grade students spent a day at the YLA farm, where they met the chickens and helped collect eggs. They learned firsthand what it takes to care for animals and nature, the kind of lesson that sticks long after a worksheet is forgotten.
A Door That Opens Beyond Graduation
Recently, Young Living Academy was recognized by Young Talent Latam as a 2026 Ally for Talent, an honor that celebrates partnerships that believe in the potential of the next generation.
For our students, this opens real doors. It brings access to professional development, training, and university scholarship opportunities. Students will also be able to take part in Young Talent Latam’s Talent Challenges, a program that lets them explore different career paths, put their skills to the test, and get a clearer picture of what they want to do with their lives.
For a student who has never been asked “what do you want to be?” and been shown a real path to get there, that is life changing.
When You Show Up in Person
This month, a handful of Young Living Brand Partners traveled to Ecuador for our October service trip. They spent time with students, teachers, and families, and saw for themselves what happens inside the Academy: kids who light up when they learn, teachers who pour everything into their classrooms, and a community that sees education as a real path forward. They poured their hearts and sweat into building two additional classrooms as part of our Young Living Academy expansion. A huge heartfelt thanks to each of these volunteers for lasting impact their hard work has produced!
Thank You
Every one of these moments traces back to generosity. A Brand Partner who gives, a donor who sponsors a student, a team that believes a child in Ecuador deserves the same chance as any other. That belief is what makes a school like this possible, and what makes recognition like Ally for Talent possible too.
Your generosity is not just keeping classroom doors open. It is opening new ones that lead to careers, scholarships, and futures these students are only beginning to imagine.
