One Stitch at a Time: A New Chapter Begins in India

One Stitch at a Time: A New Chapter Begins in India

Just a few months ago, our Young Living Foundation community helped launch a new tailoring training center in Katrapadu, India.

Today, that classroom is already filled with women learning new skills, building confidence, and taking their first steps toward greater financial independence.

What began as a vision has become a place of opportunity.

And one of those opportunities belongs to a woman named Selina.

Every Skill Learned Opens a New Door

When Selina first heard that Rural Care Ministries, with support from the Young Living Foundation, was offering free tailoring classes in her village, she knew she wanted to learn.

She had never operated a sewing machine before.

But she believed learning a new skill could help change her future.

Since joining the program, Selina has learned how to sew hooks, eyelets, buttons, zigzag stitching, decorative wave stitching, and garments for both girls and boys. More importantly, she says the training has given her something even greater than new skills; it has given her confidence.

Looking ahead, Selina hopes to continue learning advanced tailoring techniques so she can eventually open her own tailoring business, earn an income, and help provide financial support for her family.

Her story is exactly why this program exists.

Building Opportunity Together

The Young Living Foundation Tailoring Training Centre officially welcomed 43 women into the program, led by instructor Mrs. Prasanna, who is helping equip participants with practical vocational skills they can use to build sustainable livelihoods.

This month also marked exciting milestones for the program:

  • Tailoring materials were purchased for all 43 participants
  • 15 more sewing machines were purchased for the training center.
  • The center is now fully operating with both an instructor and dedicated classroom space.

Every lesson learned is preparing these women for something much bigger than sewing.

They're learning how to create opportunities for themselves, support their families, and build brighter futures through meaningful work.

Thank You

Selina ended her letter with a simple message:

"I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Rural Care Ministries for launching such a wonderful program and to the management of the Young Living Foundation for providing the financial support."

Her words remind us that generosity creates ripple effects that reach far beyond a classroom.

To everyone who supported our Empower a Woman campaign and continues to invest in the Young Living Foundation, thank you.

Because of your generosity, women are gaining practical skills, discovering new confidence, and preparing for opportunities that can change the future of their families.

Today it's a classroom.

Tomorrow it's a business.

And one stitch at a time, lives are being transformed.
