$233,767 Donated to Meals on Wheels

Providing a hand up in this time of need

Amid the COVID - 19 crisis, Young Living steps up to support our most vulnerable.

Communities worldwide are coming together to look out for one another amid COVID-19, and the Young Living community is no different. The compassion of our members and willingness to spring to action and offer support to family, friends, and neighbors is inspiring.

Through this time of need, Young Living and The D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation are committed to offering a hand up by giving back to those heavily impacted by the isolation measures: senior citizens.

Throughout March, 1 percent of all North American Thieves® product line proceeds were donated to the Meals on Wheels COVID-19 Response Fund for a total of $233,767! This fund will assist Meals on Wheels programs in the U.S. and Canada. Meals on Wheels serves as an invaluable lifeline to 2.4 million vulnerable older adults, the majority of whom have multiple chronic conditions.

We are tremendously grateful to Young Living for supporting our critical effort to ensure homebound seniors continue to receive the nutritious meals they need amid this crisis. This significant donation provides certainty for Meals on Wheels during this uncertain time and a vital lifeline on which vulnerable older adults rely.

- Ellie Hollander, President & CEO of Meals on Wheels America

Young Living's donations to the Meals on Wheels COVID-19 Response Fund will help them expand its capacity in three key ways:

  • Replenishing and expanding the supply of shelf-stable meals, frozen meals, and/or other nutrition services
  • Implementing telephone reassurance and tech-based programs to check in and connect with isolated senior
  • Ensuring that senior nutrition programs everywhere have access to the latest science-based information to protect themselves, prevent infection, and care for those in need

The fund will also help subsidize additional transportation and personnel costs that will be necessary should sites where older adults currently receive meals in a group setting close. Those who depend on senior centers, congregate cafes, or community dining sites will become home-delivered meal participants.

COVID-19 Response in action

Meals on Wheels in Guernsey County in Ohio provides an example of how this organization is looking to step up and increase its support to seniors during the COVID-19 crisis. This local Meals on Wheels has expanded its outreach services to include two new programs: Grab & Go Meals and the Senior Shopper Program.

Starting Monday, March 8, Guernsey County set up satellite sites to distribute hot, nutritious Grab & Go Meals for pickup, five days per week. New and existing clients are encouraged to use the service, and no seniors will be denied a meal.

The Senior Shopper Program is designed to provide shopping and prescription pickup assistance to those age 60 and older in Guernsey County. Expanded services are designed for seniors who during the self-quarantine of COVID-19 have no reliable or consistent help with grocery shopping. These new services include delivering groceries and prescription pharmaceuticals to seniors.

Throughout March, Young Living is committing 1 percent of all North American Thieves product line proceeds to the Meals on Wheels COVID-19 Response Fund. This fund will assist Meals on Wheels programs in the U.S. and Canada.

Vulnerable seniors are at the greatest risk amid COVID-19. Local Meals on Wheels programs are on the front lines every day, focused on doing all they can to keep older Americans safe and nourished in communities across the country. The costs and efforts needed to protect seniors from COVID-19 require additional emergency funds.

All Thieves oil blends, cleaning products, dental care products, personal care, and on the go products are included. Bundles that include Thieves products are not included.
