Turning Skills into Opportunity
Since the start of the program, 33 women have completed tailoring training and received sewing machines to begin their own work. For many participants, this was their first opportunity to develop a skill that could provide consistent income.
Women like Rajakumari.
After being abandoned by her husband and left to care for her two children on her own, Rajakumari struggled to make ends meet through low-paying labor jobs. Today, after completing tailoring training and receiving a sewing machine, she is earning income through sewing work and helping cover her rent and her daughters' college expenses.
Her story is one of many.
Across the program, women who previously relied on seasonal labor, irregular work, or support from family members, are now earning income through small tailoring businesses. Some are helping pay rent. Others are contributing to their children's education. All are feeling empowered.
For many of these women, the sewing machine represents more than equipment.
It represents opportunity.
It represents confidence.
And it represents the ability to provide for their families in new ways.
