Finding the Way Home: Hope, Healing, and the Journey Back to Family

Finding the Way Home: Hope, Healing, and the Journey Back to Family

When a child experiences trafficking, the goal isn't simply to remove them from danger.

The goal is to help them heal, restore hope, and, whenever it's safe and possible, reunite them with the people who love them most.

That's why the work of our partner in the fight against trafficking in Ethiopia, Hope for Justice, extends far beyond immediate care. Every child receives trauma-informed support, counseling, education, and careful planning before returning home. Because lasting restoration doesn't happen overnight; it happens through intentional relationships, thoughtful preparation, and long-term care.

This month, we're honored to share both the impact your generosity is making across Ethiopia and the story of one young boy whose journey home reminds us why this work matters.

More Than Numbers, Lives Being Restored

In July, through our partnership with Hope for Justice, your support helped make the following possible:

  • 207 community members received training on modern slavery and human trafficking prevention.
  • 77 boys vulnerable to or experiencing trafficking were reached through outreach efforts.
  • 19 children were referred to Hope for Justice's Lighthouse aftercare centers.
  • 95 children received safe shelter and trauma-informed care.
  • 14 girls received legal support to pursue justice against their perpetrators.
  • 40 children were safely reunited with their families.
  • 57 children continued receiving follow-up care after reintegration.

Each number represents a child, a family, and a future being rebuilt.

But behind every report is a story.

One of those stories belongs to Yakob.

Thank you for being part of this story. If you'd like to help create more moments like these, we'd be honored to have you continue the impact.
