Every Mother Deserves a Fighting Chance
Every Mother Deserves a Fighting Chance
For Peninah, a pregnant mother who was battling severe malaria, the signs pointed toward losing the pregnancy altogether.
Two of Healing Faith's midwives, Hope and Immaculate, moved quickly, getting Peninah onto the medication and monitoring she and her baby urgently needed to fight the disease. We're thankful to report that the treatment worked. Both Peninah and her baby survived.
Peninah's case is exactly why Healing Faith treats every pregnant mother who tests positive for malaria as an emergency. Because of Your Generosity, Care Still Reached Families.
Even against that weather, your support kept the work moving. In August, because of you, Healing Faith's team:
- Tested 2,359 patients for malaria, catching 1,142 confirmed cases before they became dangerous.
- Cared for 63 pregnant mothers, including mothers facing the same kind of crisis Peninah did, with 24 receiving treatment after testing positive.
- Identified 40 severe cases and referred 2 patients for emergency hospital care.
- Educated 1,388 households and 1,479 individuals on how to recognize and prevent malaria before it takes hold.
- Distributed 116 mosquito nets, extending protection to 171 children, 251 adults, and 9 pregnant mothers.
Each of those numbers is a mother, a child, a family like Peninah's, who didn't have to face malaria alone, rain or no rain.
Thank You
To everyone who continues to support the Young Living Foundation, thank you. Because of your generosity, Healing Faith Uganda isn't just responding to malaria in Jinja and Mayuge. It's staying two steps ahead of it: one stocked shelf, one trained health worker, one prepared village at a time. Mothers like Peninah get midwives who can act in minutes, not days, and get to keep fighting for the babies they're carrying. When the rains ease and the season turns, as it always does, the families of Jinja and Mayuge will find a team that was already waiting for them.
