2021 VIGC Foundation Artisan Items
Making a difference for women around the world.
students with increased access to basic education
Students completing vocational or job-ready education
students sponsored at the Young Living Academy
In a world where one in five children ages 6 to 17 are not enrolled in school, illiteracy rates are staggering, and generational poverty seems like an unshakeable cycle, you’re helping us break the mold and create opportunity through education. Through our partners and projects, students supported by the Foundation’s projects and partnerships in 2021 were able to grow and develop even amid a turbulent educational climate onset by global shutdowns, and it’s all because you cared.
For students like Seema Kumari who graduated from Yuwa School and is becoming the first in her family to attend college after accepting a full scholarship to Harvard University, and Jerry Ayobí who is receiving a quality education at the Young Living Academy, together we are fostering limitless hope through education.
people rescued from exploitation
Participants trained in human trafficking prevention
Human trafficking deprives approximately 40.3 million men, women, and children around the world of their fundamental freedoms. But by partnering with Hope for Justice, who has a powerful four-step approach to ending exploitation, your support in 2021 changed survivors’ lives and gave them the freedom to dream again.
People supported through fair-pay artisan work
Women and girls living in poverty are more vulnerable to exploitation, violence, and child marriage. For women living in rural areas where income-generating activities are limited, together we increased earning potential for women artisans in 7 countries in 2021. Research shows that when women work, they spend up to 90 percent of their earnings on things that directly benefit their families—things like healthier food, education, and healthcare.
Like Monica Eyaru, one of Mabira Collective’s youngest artisans. Monica grew up in the Kayunga district of Uganda, the second of seven children raised by hardworking parents to be determined in the pursuit of their goals. Monica is teaching her four children the same principals and is leading by example through her work at Mabira.
Monica enjoys her job and loves that she’s able to afford her children’s educations. Ultimately, she is saving up to achieve her dreams of buying a home and sending her children to university.
