Building Businesses That Last
Building Businesses That Last
Starting a business is an exciting milestone.
But building a business that can support a family for years to come requires something even more valuable.
Knowledge.
Confidence.
Accountability.
And a community that believes in your success.
That's exactly what we're seeing through our sponsorship of the Women's Entrepreneurship Center women’s empowerment program in Uganda.
Just a few months ago, women were learning how to write business plans and dream about what their futures could become.
Today, they're doing something even more exciting.
They're learning how to build businesses that last.
Growing Beyond the First Sale
Entrepreneurship isn't only about making your first sale.
It's learning how to keep good records.
Understanding pricing.
Managing expenses.
Tracking profits.
Saving for the future.
These are the skills that create stability for families long after the excitement of launching a business.
Throughout July, women participated in refresher business management training focused on practical skills like bookkeeping, financial management, pricing, and preparing simple profit and loss statements. Eleven business owners completed the training, strengthening the knowledge they'll use every day as their businesses continue to grow.
Stronger Together
One of the most encouraging developments this month wasn't about finances.
It was about community.
The women participating in the program created a long-term support network that includes monthly business meetings, shared savings goals, peer mentoring, and accountability groups based on similar business types. They're also preparing to open a group savings account to encourage financial discipline while supporting one another through the challenges of entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurship can often feel lonely.
But these women are proving that success grows stronger when people encourage one another.
Preparing the Next Generation
While the first businesses continue growing, the next chapter is already beginning.
Planning is underway for the third cohort of entrepreneurs, with new participants preparing to begin their own business training in the months ahead. The program is also refining how future participants are selected and mentored, ensuring each woman receives consistent coaching and long-term support close to where her business will operate.
Each new cohort means another group of women gaining the opportunity to provide for their families through entrepreneurship.
Small Steps. Lasting Impact.
This month also marked several important milestones:
Six women completed outstanding business plan presentations.
Eleven business owners strengthened their financial management skills.
Monthly peer support groups were established.
Plans were finalized to launch a group savings account.
Preparations continued for the third cohort of entrepreneurs.
These may sound like simple accomplishments.
But each one is building the foundation for stronger businesses, more resilient families, and communities where women have greater opportunities to succeed.
Thank You
To everyone who supported our Empower a Woman campaign and continues to invest in the Young Living Foundation, thank you.
Because of your generosity, women are receiving far more than startup resources.
They're learning how to manage finances.
Support one another.
Grow sustainable businesses.
And create brighter futures for their families.
One business plan.
One lesson.
One entrepreneur.
One family at a time.
Together, we're not just helping women start businesses.
We're helping them build futures that can last for generations.
